We went on the rides at the Mall of America at last year's AWP Conference in Minneapolis and there's a lot to be said for the sheer visceral thrill of a roller coaster after days of panels and readings! Peter: I promised my eleven-year-old son we'd spend the day before or after the conference at a theme park. Q: Outside of the conference, what about Los Angeles are you looking forward to? Are there any Los Angeles activities you would recommend to conference attendees? Writers are peculiar creatures, and if you feel you are the only one of your kind, it’s dispiriting.

Roxana: I think it can be very heartening to meet other members of your tribe. Q: Given how much time writers spend alone to practice their craft, what do you think are the advantages of creating the large community that exists at the AWP conference?
